How to Look Sexy at a Lingerie Party

The thing that comes to mind first for most people when they think of lingerie is the teddy. This piece of intimate apparel will always be an integral part of any woman's wardrobe. They come in a variety of styles with some having built in bras and some that have no cups. The teddy is much more than just a short little item with spaghetti straps. They can be used to hide flaws or worn as a sexy shirt with a favorite skirt or pair of pants and you will be the only one that knows you are really wearing a teddy until you decide to reveal it to a special someone.

The way to get the best out of this versatile lingerie item is to choose one that hides any bad features you may have and brings out your best ones. As I mentioned before, there are numerous styles and choices available so it is easy for anyone to find something that will work well for them. Take your time and shop around so that you are sure to get just the right style and fit for you. You want to make sure that you know your dress size, bra and panty size, as well as your blouse size so you will have all of the information you need to get just the right teddy for you. You also want to consider what fabrics you are comfortable in and avoid the ones that are irritating to you.

There are even more fabric designs than there are different styles of teddies and of course they are available in myriad of colors as well. One of the most popular fabric choices is silk which will give you a comfortable and soft piece of lingerie that is sexy but also versatile at the same time. Similar to silk, satin is another great choice and it is also easier to care for. If you aren't bothered by lace these types of teddies are very hot and their revealing nature is lots of fun. If you are really voyeuristic you can always go with a mesh one that really shows everything and will drive any man out of his mind.

One of the least things that women think of when they are lingerie shopping is color and the majority of women simply choose the favorite color of their partner or themselves. Another popular choice is to go with white or black but you really shouldn't be so simplistic. You want to choose colors that are flattering to your skin, hair, and eyes. To give you an idea, if you have fair skin you will probably look better in medium or darker colors while those with darker skin look great in pastel or light colors. If you have a medium skin tone like olive colored skin you will look best in earthy colors or fabrics that are darker.

How To Find The Appropriate Lingerie For Your Age

Lingerie is intimate apparel that is meant to be worn under a woman's clothing, or in the privacy of her bedroom. If you agree with this statement then please read on because lingerie is no longer just for the bedroom or under a skirt or blouse. It has historically been worn as a foundation that distorted a woman's form to conform to the style of the day. Corsets, waist cinchers, and similar garments were to make a woman's body appear to have a slender waist, hourglass figure, or the appearance of smaller breasts or whatever the style was of the day. Panties were worn for the sake of modesty, but primarily for sanitary purposes. After all, preventing one from soiling a garment was one of the primary purposes of underpants or panties. Through the 19th and early 20th century, lingerie was meant to be worn as an unmentionable, under the skirts or blouses of women, and certainly out of view of others.

Styles began to change in the early 20th century with the invention of the bra, such as it was, and women's needs also changed with more women entering the work force during the first and second world wars. Lingerie changed along with the women that wore bras, panties and hosiery. Fabrics were invented that allowed garments to stretch and give, with comfort being more and more important, and the idea of women with freakish waists became viewed as virtually ancient.

The women's movement and women's changing views of fashion in the late 1960's and early 1970's signaled a change that has led us to where we are today. Although very few women ever actually burned their bras, the movement encouraged women to reevaluate many of society's views concerning women, and fashion was no exception. A combination of changing values and fashion shifts among women, as well as the advent of modern fabrics and manufacturing techniques have given women the freedom to create today's sensual and often fashion trends.

It should come as no surprise that lingerie, previously regarded as unmentionables, should emerge as outerwear. Women have demanded more figure flattering, colorful garments and lingerie manufacturers have responded. With more body conscious styles, perhaps it was inevitable that the sexy underwear would peak out of women's blouses, jackets and jeans. To some it is kind of naughty, while to others simply a means of self expression. Women's fashion has always been the subject of ridicule, fascination and criticism. The jean wearing women of the sixties ushered in a 40 year ongoing love affair with denim. While the bra burning feminists of the sixties and seventies did not have a lasting effect on women wearing bras, the emergence of women in the work place and equal rights have led to some unforeseen consequences.

Women wear and don't wear what they please. Fashion is no longer dictated by the first lady or by runways in fashion capitols. That is not to say that the influence of the runways of Milan, New York and Paris are not important, in many ways. Young women are creating fashion on the streets of Los Angeles, New York, Miami and another fashion explosion may be around the corner with the release of another rock video, or a movie release with young women in the lead.

Lingerie worn as outerwear is not a passing trend. The evolution of women's underwear or lingerie has been trending towards skimpier; more body hugging and less is more for many years. Women have embraced wearing beautiful and exciting clothing regardless of what it is called, and wearing it out of the bedroom was inevitable and a welcome addition to the fashion landscape.

Lingerie - Making You Feel Sexy When You Wear Them

Sexy lingerie. Erotic lingerie. Naughty lingerie. Hot lingerie. Fantasy lingerie.
Black lingerie. Holiday lingerie. The ins and outs to gift wrap your lover.

"Lingerie" comes from the Old French word "lingere" meaning linen, and is defined as
women's underwear and night clothes. In France "lingerie" applies to all undergarments for both genders. In the U.S. and England "lingerie" applies to women's undergarments, solely created to be erotic or visually pleasing, using the like of silk and lace, and does not apply to sensible cotton underclothes.

The history of lingerie.

The concept of lingerie being visually pleasing is a relatively recent one. The glamorization of lingerie really only started in the 1960's. The concept of sexy lingerie began to develop and by the sexual revolution of the 1970's really took off. Interestingly, the 1960's also saw feminists burning their bras. The feminists were convinced that women's undergarments were created "to impose control and order of the fairer sex".

In the first half of the 20th Century women's undergarments had 3 purposes: modesty, hygiene, and to alter the female form through the use of corsets, girdles and bras. They were often large, bulky, extremely uncomfortable and often very physically restraining. By the 1950's undergarments were becoming smaller and more form fitting.

The Corset. From the 16th to 19th Century various devices were used to squeeze women' waists to astonishing measurements of 16-17 inches. Note that Kate Moss, Jennifer Anniston and Heather Locklear all list their waist measurements as 23 inches. The envied hourglass shape was achieved by compressing the body at the middle and literally transferring the flesh from the waist to the breasts and hips.

The Girdle. During the 1920's the corset was slowly replaced by the girdle. These were more comfortable and less extreme. The girdle was considered an essential item, both for respectability and modesty. The girdle was designed to give a smoother more appealing line to the woman's shape. The bottom of the girdle had fasteners on it to clip onto stockings to keep them up. By the 1960's the girdle was replaced by the panty girdle and then again by control top pantyhose.
The Brassiere. There is some disagreement as to when and who invented the bra. Mary Phelps Jacob held the first patent, Feb 12, 1914, which contained the French word "brassiere". Her invention was backless and held in place with straps that wrapped around the body and tied in the front. It was designed to be worn with backless evening gowns, hiding the top of the corset in front. However, earlier, in Jan 10,1876, a patent was lodged by Olivia P.Flynt, claiming to be "specially designed as a bust support and improver".
Underpants. Aka undies, smalls, panties (U.S.), knickers (U.K.), bloomers, briefs, gorgeous gussies, and scanties. Until the 1940's the only purpose of the "bloomers" was to protect and keep the outer garments clean. They were not sexy or attractive and were designed only to be functional. Until the 1950's underpants covered parts of the thigh. When the thigh covering disappeared, the US term of the "panty" was created. However these were large, baggy, unattractive and white. Think "granny panties". Gradually, the panty became more colourful and smaller, with string panties emerging in the 1960's. Panties became an icon of sexuality once manufacturers started to use satin, lace and silk.

Peignoir. A floor length night gown. They are usually made of chiffon and are sheer. Although they are usually sold with matching knickers, they are often worn without. This is the perfect intimate lingerie for the girl who is self conscious about her legs.

Stockings and Garter Belts. The ultimate indicator for a guy that this is going to be a hot date! A tantalising glimpse of these and he will be putty in a girl's hand. The quick and easy access to the genital area seems to promise sexual spontaneity. The most popular color for the garter belt is red or black. While stockings come in all colors and designs, the two most desirable styles are the back seamed and the fishnet, both in black. Hot sexy lingerie at its most effective.

Teddy. A camisole and knickers all in one, usually with snap fasteners at the crotch. These can be tricky to purchase in the correct size due to body length differences. Unless it is made of stretch lace, this is one item that should be tried on before purchasing. Often perceived to be fine or luxury lingerie, especially when made in silk.

Where to purchase adult lingerie.

In this day and age, there is no need to be embarrassed about being spotted in the adult shop. Most department stores have a range of tame sensual lingerie. Lingerie boutiques have whole racks devoted to sexy lingerie. For the shyer folk, there are lingerie catalogues and numerous online sites where you can peruse to your hearts content. The mail order and website companies normally send your items in plain unmarked boxes.

Take the yawn out of your bedchamber! A passion pit is just at the end of the hallway!
Whatever your fantasy or fetish, erotic or sensual lingerie will add a spark to the slap and tickle.

Good Luck, Coco Swan.
